Macon Candy is a personal blog and musings of Macon, Georgia resident, mother and music history tour guide Jessica Walden.

For over a decade now, I've documented life through this blog. Macon Candy started in 2009 from a dog's point of view of courtship and living life unleashed. In 2011, we switched when Jamie and I got hitched, and rocked out our wedding details right here. After that, our family story began, starting with the roller coaster of pregnancy. In 2014, we welcomed our son, Walden, and Macon Candy entered the full-throttle love and battle cry of working motherhood. Now, it's spring 2020, the midst of a global pandemic. And I've returned to this space with a world that is revolving, a shift that is evolving and words that never stop turning.

Macon native Jessica Walden is a dedicated community advocate who has lived her entire life in Central Georgia. She is passionate about the sense of place and purposed instilled by her region, which has defined her 20-year career in communications and community relations.

Born to a family synonymous with southern music Jessica developed a deep-seated loyalty to her hometown of Macon through its music heritage and untold stories. In 2011, she formed Rock Candy Tours, a music history tour company now owned and operated by Jessica and her husband, Jamie Weatherford, a third generation candy manufacturer.

Since creating Rock Candy Tours, Jessica and Jamie have conducted over 1,000 tours to visitors, locals and VIPs in their beloved community of Macon. Their music history tours have received statewide recognition and national media attention through outlets like National Geographic, C-Span and NPR.

Jessica, Jamie and their young son, Walden Weatherford, live just outside of Downtown Macon on a hilltop home in Twiggs County, Georgia with a menagerie of rescue pets, which included the original inspiration for this blog: Candy Lou.

In addition to co-owning Rock Candy Tours, Jessica is a writer, business advisor and a co-founder of The Web, a work club created for women and their ever-weaving work-life blend
